Degaussers are devices that emit an electromagnetic pulse to disrupt and break the magnetic field that stores the binary data within the spinning disks of HDDs.
SEM degaussers are designed with operator health and safety in mind to government specifications for total drive sanitization.
HDDs and SSDs in One Device
SEM HDD and SSD combo shredders are built with two separate feed chutes and cutting chambers to allow more precise destruction of the respective media.
HDDs are demolished with extra torque to tear through thick drives with several platters, while SSDs are shredded to thinner strips to ensure that every chip is destroyed.

SEM Model EMP1000-HS
SEM Model EMP1000-HS is the industry-leading NSA listed degausser, equipped with a built-in verification system and touch screen display. Compact, portable, and easily transported to the location of the media for onsite erasure and declassification, this degausser plays a crucial role in end-of-life data destruction for hard drives and is a necessity to meet step one of the NSA’s degauss and destroy mandate for classified drives.
SEM Model 0101 Crusher
The NSA listed SEM Model 0101 delivers 12,000 pounds of force via a conical punch, causing catastrophic trauma to any and all rotational drives regardless of drive size, format, and type. The SEM Model 0101 is the only hard drive crusher on the market that accepts HDDs with integrated rails and handles, and it delivers 20% more speed and crushing power than competitor models.
The Model 0101 is also available with an SSD Kit for the destruction of CUI/PII and commercial SSDs.
SEM Model 0305 Combo Shredder
The SEM Model 0305 Combo destroys up to 800 enterprise HDDs per hour to a particle size of just 1.5″ wide, and SSDs to a particle size of 0.375”. In addition to destroying HDDs and SSDs, this device is capable of securely shredding optical media and other various kinds of smaller electronic devices, such as cell phones, smartphones, memory sticks, and more.
This robust hard drive shredder uses specially crafted saw tooth hook cutters, allowing it to shred up to 50 hard drives in a minute and is the perfect destruction solution for centralized destruction areas and data centers.
SEM Model SSD2-HS Solid State Disintegrator
The Model SSD2-HS is specifically designed for the seamless and secure destruction of enterprise SSDs and boards, resulting in a 2mm² final particle size. This model has increased torque which allows the system to cut through multiple steel plates, carries, and other enterprise SSD components, along with cell phones, thumb drives, laptop drives, PCBs, and other memory modules.
